Enugu Electoral Commission Reports 90% Readiness for September 26 LG Polls

Commission says preparations for deploying sensitive and non-sensitive materials have reached final stage

ENUGU, Nigeria — September 14, 2026: The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission says it has completed more than 90 per cent of preparations for the September 26 local government elections, assuring residents that the commission is ready for the polls.

The commission said arrangements for deploying sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials, personnel and other logistics to the state’s local government areas were at the final stage ahead of election day.

According to the electoral body, officials are working to ensure the timely delivery of voting materials and other essential resources to polling locations across the state.

The election will determine the chairpersons and councillors who will lead the local government councils in Enugu State.

The commission said it remained committed to conducting a credible, peaceful and transparent election while ensuring that eligible voters can exercise their franchise without intimidation or unnecessary disruption.

Political parties and candidates are expected to intensify their campaigns in the days leading up to the polls, with attention focused on grassroots development and the administration of the councils.

Security agencies are also expected to deploy personnel to strategic locations to maintain order and protect voters, electoral officials and election materials during the exercise.

The commission urged political parties, candidates, supporters and residents to conduct themselves peacefully and comply with all electoral guidelines.

With less than two weeks to the election, the commission’s 90 per cent completion figure indicates that preparations for the September 26 polls are nearing completion.
