FOOD SECURITY PUSH: REMI TINUBU GIVES ₦5M BOOST TO ANAMBRA FARMERS

First Lady expands Renewed Hope Initiative’s agricultural empowerment drive as beneficiaries receive support to strengthen farming activities

AWKA, Anambra State — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦5 million to beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agricultural Support Programme in Anambra State, reinforcing efforts to empower farmers and strengthen food production.

The intervention is designed to provide beneficiaries with additional financial support to expand their farming activities, improve productivity and develop sustainable sources of income.

Agriculture is a major component of the Renewed Hope Initiative, which focuses on supporting women, young people, farmers and vulnerable households through programmes in economic empowerment, education, health and social welfare.

The latest funding is expected to help participating farmers address some of the financial challenges associated with agricultural production, including the purchase of inputs and other essential farming requirements.

The intervention comes at a time when farmers across Nigeria continue to grapple with rising production costs, making financial support increasingly important to sustaining small-scale agricultural businesses and improving domestic food supply.

Through the RHI Agricultural Support Programme, beneficiaries are being encouraged to view farming not only as a means of subsistence but as a viable enterprise capable of generating income, creating employment and contributing to Nigeria’s food security.

For Anambra State, where agriculture provides livelihoods for many households, increased support for smallholder farmers could help strengthen local production while improving incomes within rural communities.

The ₦5 million donation forms part of the First Lady’s broader grassroots empowerment campaign through the Renewed Hope Initiative, which has rolled out programmes across different parts of the country.

Beneficiaries are expected to channel the assistance into productive agricultural activities capable of increasing output and improving their economic circumstances.

The initiative further highlights the growing emphasis on agricultural empowerment as Nigeria seeks to boost domestic food production, strengthen rural economies and provide families with more sustainable means of livelihood.
