Viral Video Fuels Speculation Over Poco Lee’s Release as UK Case Continues

LONDON — Confusion has surrounded the reported release of Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, after a video emerged appearing to show him out of custody in the United Kingdom.

According to PUNCH News, social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, shared a video on Saturday showing Poco Lee eating, with Afrobeats star Burna Boy seen in the background. The footage quickly fuelled speculation that the dancer had regained his freedom.

However, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that the criminal case against Poco Lee remains active. The CPS told PUNCH that he is still scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, for a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing.

Poco Lee is facing five sexual offence charges — attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. The allegations remain unproven, and the proceedings are ongoing.

Reports circulating online have also claimed that the complainant withdrew the allegations or that the matter had been settled. However, PUNCH reported that those claims had not been independently verified, while the CPS maintained that the prosecution remains live.

The CPS did not clarify whether Poco Lee had been released on bail or remained in custody, leaving questions surrounding the viral video and his current custody status unanswered ahead of his scheduled court appearance.
